The Honourable Mark Bailey

New facilities at the Miles Driver Reviver site are aiding tired motorists, with the old hut given a new lease of life by Western Downs Regional Council and local SES.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the upgraded driver reviver facilities would benefit the community for many years to come.

“Motorists can utilise the new barbecue area when they pull up, with extra seating and revitalised gardens making it a great place to stop for a break,” Mr Bailey said.

“The new building also provides a modern and more comfortable facility for volunteers who share their valuable time and expertise to help keep motorists safe.”

Mr Bailey said Transport and Main Roads volunteers came together recently to celebrate 27 years of keeping drivers safe.

“The event also signified the official opening of the new facilities, as well as the gifting of the old hut to Western Downs Regional Council and the SES,” he said.

“It’s great to know these facilities will continue to help the local community.”

The Driver Reviver initiative plays an important role in promoting safer driving habits for long distance drivers, and helps motorists arrive safely at their destinations.

The Driver Reviver program is nationally supported by Toll Group, The Arnott’s Foundation, Bushells and Sunshine Sugar.

Anyone interested in volunteering to staff a Driver Reviver site is encouraged to contact a local road safety advisor.
