Minister for Transport and Main Roads
The Honourable Mark Bailey

Work to install a new roundabout at the D’Aguilar Highway and Rogers Drive intersection in Kingaroy is set to start next week (Monday 21st May).

Transport and Main Roads Minster Mark Bailey said the roundabout would be installed under the Queensland Government’s Targeted Road Safety program.

“We are always looking at ways to improve safety, and we have injected $1.87 million to enhance this intersection,” Mr Bailey said.

“There have been three crashes reported at this intersection between January 2012 and 30 September 2017.

“These crashes resulted in five people being taken to hospital and one person receiving medical treatment.

“The roundabout will improve safety by keeping motorists flowing through the intersection.

“It will also reduce the potential for rear-end crashes while vehicles are waiting to turn into Rogers Drive.”

Mr Bailey said the roundabout would be installed as part of the Queensland Government’s commitment to deliver a long-term vision of zero deaths and serious injuries on Queensland roads.

“To achieve our vision we are working to reduce fatalities and serious injuries, and improve the safety rating of our road network by 2020,” he said

“This is a good opportunity for motorists to brush up on their road rules knowledge before the roundabout is finished.

“We have road rules refreshers on the Queensland Government website, but the most important point to remember is to always give way to motorists already on the roundabout.”

Mr Bailey said construction would take about six months to complete.

“South Burnett Regional Council will be delivering the upgrade,” he said.

“Work will take place on weekdays, Monday to Friday, between 6am and 6pm.

“Rogers Drive is the only road access to the business precinct, and we will provide a temporary access during construction so they can keep operating.”
