Minister for Transport and Main Roads
The Honourable Mark Bailey

Safety improvement works for the intersection of Birkdale Road with Agnes and Napier Streets have been delivered ahead of schedule.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said completion would improve safety for school children, parents, shoppers and other pedestrians crossing this busy intersection each day.

“The upgraded intersection includes kerb ramp realignment, improved line marking and installation of tactile ground surface indicators to assist the visually impaired,” Mr Bailey said.

“Safety of all road users is our number one priority and I am pleased this pedestrian infrastructure will provide better connectivity and a safe crossing access for the community.”

Mr Bailey said the $230,000 upgrade was provided by the Queensland Government’s Road Safety Minor Works program and completed a month ahead of schedule.

“Works were originally planned for completion at the end of May however we have been able to deliver this important upgrade a month ahead of schedule,” he said.

The Minister thanked motorists and the local community for their patience during the works.
