Minister for Fire and Emergency Services
The Honourable Craig Crawford

Police, fire and emergency services personnel at the Commonwealth Games have kit bags and snacks ready to go, thanks to a partnership with the Endeavour Foundation.

Police Minister Mark Ryan and Fire and Emergency Services Minister Craig Crawford visited Endeavour Foundation Industries at Geebung today to thank staff for their efforts.

“The wonderful team at Endeavour Foundation have done an amazing job over the past few weeks putting together a range of logistics to support staff and volunteers working at the Commonwealth Games,” Mr Ryan said.

“For the 3700-strong Queensland Police Service contingent, Endeavour Foundation staff have filled 50,000 snack packs and 3,800 workforce bags containing key essentials such as sunscreen, a water bottle, hand sanitiser and a poncho.

“These items will help police officers and staff to remain nourished, hydrated and prepared for changes in weather during the Commonwealth Games.”

Minister Crawford also acknowledged the tremendous support provided by the Endeavour Foundation.

“They have worked hard to pack 750 bags for Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and these are being distributed to our staff and volunteers as they arrive at mobilisation centres ahead of their Commonwealth Games deployment,” Mr Crawford said.

“Many of the QFES staff and volunteers deployed to the Games will spend their shifts outdoors, on their feet, patrolling areas and assisting community members at Games venues. These lightweight bags will help ensure members of the QFES team have what they need to do their job comfortably.

“I would like to thank the entire Endeavour Foundation team for supporting our QFES workforce, which will participate in the equivalent of more than 3400 operational shifts during the Commonwealth Games.”

Endeavour Foundation Chief Operating Officer Paula Mayson said the organisation was proud to answer the call for assistance.

“Many of our 180 hard-working staff members at Geebung have helped to put these packs together, over three and a half weeks, Ms Mayson said.

“It has been a huge buzz for our team to be part of the Commonwealth Games excitement, and put our packaging skills to use doing something that will help police and fire officers.”
