The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk

Local and international buyers looking to snap up a piece of official Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games memorabilia can bid with confidence and in good conscience, with money raised from the online auction set to benefit the Gold Coast Community Fund (GCCF).

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced the Gold Coast Community Fund - the Official Charity of GC2018 – could expect to receive more than $30,000 from the auction, which includes Games assets and more than 171 pieces of sports equipment.

“An eclectic assortment of GC2018 memorabilia is up for grabs – from medal presentations trays to relay batons to match netballs signed by Team Australia athletes and their competitors from across the Commonwealth,” the Premier said.

“These are not just objects – they are take-home memories of Australian sporting history and could take pride of place on the mantelpiece, or even in the Man Cave or She Shed.

“I’m delighted the Gold Coast Community Fund, which delivers financial assistance to individuals and charities throughout the Gold Coast region, will be the beneficiary of this auction.

“For almost two decades, the GCCF has extended a helping hand to people within their local community suffering financial hardship.

“Secure in the knowledge that your money will be going to a fantastic cause, I encourage everyone to take a look at the items on auction, raise a virtual paddle and get bidding.”

Established in early 2000 by some of the city’s leading business figures, the Gold Coast Community Fund raises funds through a variety of initiatives for a broad range of charities, community groups and individuals.

The GCCF previously raised more than $300,000 through the GC2018 Charity Gala, held at The Star Gold Coast in November last year.

The GC2018 memorabilia online auction will run until 30 April 2018.
