The Honourable Craig Crawford

Disaster assistance has been extended to the Tablelands local government area that was impacted by rainfall and flooding in early March.

Funding is being made available through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).

Minister for Law Enforcement and Cyber Security Angus Taylor, who has responsibility for Commonwealth disaster assistance said flooding caused widespread damage across the Tablelands.

“This assistance will enable the rebuilding and replacement of damaged public infrastructure, including roads, as well as help council with their clean-up costs.”

Queensland Minister for Fire and Emergency Services Craig Crawford said that joint‑government financial support has been activated to ensure the community received assistance.

“This was a significant flood event, which had a major impact on numerous communities in north Queensland,” Mr Crawford said.

“The funding demonstrates the Commonwealth and Queensland governments' commitment to providing relief and recovery assistance following natural disasters.”

“We are continuing to monitor the flooding situation and will extend assistance further as required.”
