Giving women in business the confidence to succeed

Women business owners will have access to a new online training resource designed to help women gain the confidence to succeed, thanks to the Palaszczuk Government’s Advancing Women in Business initiative.

Minister for Employment and Small Business Shannon Fentiman today announced support for a new online program to build confidence for women to succeed in business. 

“It’s our plan to give women the tools, support and skills they need to start, grow and employ, and ultimately lead and succeed, in their own organisations,” Ms Fentiman said.

“The Palaszczuk Government has partnered with Inzpire Pty Ltd to deliver the ‘Claim Your Confidence: Strengthening the Mindsets of Women in Business Program’.”

Recognising that the thoughts and attitudes women carry into their business profoundly affect the decisions they make, Toowoomba educator and business woman Irene Baker has developed an online training program to strengthen the mindsets of women in business.

 “For many women, being in business offers the freedom and autonomy to pursue a passion, achieve a dream, and balance work and home. However, maintaining self-belief and confidence when starting and growing a business can be a struggle,” said Ms Irene Baker.

“Claim Your Confidence: Strengthening the Mindsets of Women in Business is a self-paced program that explains how mindsets form in the brain and provides practical steps women can take to rewire the self-doubt that affects business growth and reduces confidence.”

Ms Baker said, “While business can be a major part of your life, it grows and evolves only as much as you believe yourself capable to do so.  Experience of imposter syndrome, fear of failure and perfectionism can increase uncertainty and lower confidence.

“However, by learning to strengthen their belief in themselves and what they can achieve, women will discover that their self-confidence naturally expands.”

Minister Fentiman said this partnership is part of the Palaszczuk Government’s Advancing Women in Business initiative, under the $22.7 million Advancing Small Business Queensland Strategy 2016-20.

“Women in business make a very valuable contribution to Queensland’s economy and they now make up over one-third of Australian business operators,” Ms Fentiman said.

“It is because of this gender-gap that the Queensland Government is investing in women through the Advance Queensland Initiative to help them start and grow small businesses, and importantly to employ.”
