Premier and Minister for Trade
The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk

 Statement from Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk

The Fair Work Commission decision to suspend the lockout of 175 miners at Glencore's Oaky North mine in central Queensland is a welcome opportunity for all parties to resolve a dispute that has gone on for too long.

I spoke with Glencore's Head of Global Coal Assets Peter Freyberg this week and impressed upon him the need for a fair resolution of the lockout.

I have urged Glencore to resolve this matter quickly and have these workers return to work as soon as possible.

All parties must respect the determinations of the Fair Work Commission, and the principle of dignity in work and the importance of a fair day's pay to support families.
