Site set for more spaces at Salisbury park ’n’ ride

More parking spaces are on the way Salisbury commuters under a Palaszczuk Government plan to expand the Salisbury Station park ‘n’ ride.

Member for Toohey Peter Russo said land had been acquired next to the Salisbury train station to make way for the expanded facility and preliminary site investigations finalised.

“Salisbury currently has 52 existing parking spaces, which will increase by approximately 300 spaces once the project is completed,” Mr Russo said.

“The geotechnical site investigations have been done and work on a concept design for the expanded park ‘n’ ride is underway.”

Mr Russo said the concept design was expected to be completed in March 2019.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the Palaszczuk Government’s $114 million election commitment would see expansions to nine SEQ park ‘n’ ride facilities over the next five years.

“This investment will make it even easier for customers to access public transport which will in turn reduce road congestion,” Mr Bailey said.

“The commitment will add about 2,300 new car parks to the more than 30,000 spaces already available for commuters across South East Queensland.

“Park ‘n’ ride facilities are an important element of the transport network and, when delivered in the right locations, allow customers to connect with high frequency public transport where walking, cycling and connecting public transport options are limited.”
