School, wider community benefit from new multi-purpose hall

Education Minister Grace Grace has today officially opened Pimpama State School’s $7.26 million multi-purpose hall.

Ms Grace said the state-of-the-art facility was an impressive addition to one of Queensland’s oldest schools.

“The hall is a wonderful space, which has been made possible under the Palaszczuk Government’s $200 million Advancing Queensland Schools (AQS)initiative,” Ms Grace said.

“It includes a multi-purpose court, general learning areas, covered entry foyer, large stage, kiosk, staff office, data room, all-access amenities and storage rooms.

“Not only will this hall allow for an enhanced learning environment, the facility will be used for a wide range of sporting and cultural events, as well as school assemblies.

“I have no doubt this new facility will be well-used by all staff and students, both now and into the future.”

Pimpama State School Principal Marius Marx said the school community was lapping up the new space.

“Here at Pimpama State School we strive to provide a superior learning experience for all students from Prep to Year Six,” Mr Marx said.

“This multi-purpose hall is an exciting investment for our school and we are extremely grateful to have access to such a wonderful facility.”

Mr Marx said the investment would also benefit the wider community.

“The hall has been in use since the beginning of the fourth term and we are already renting out the facility to local community groups for sporting and musical purposes,” Mr Marx said.

“There is so much potential for this modern facility and it is something that should be shared.”

The construction of the hall supported an estimated 19 jobs.
