Grants open for local small business

The latest round of grants to assist Queensland small businesses to kickstart their business are now open for application.

Minister for Employment and Small Business Shannon Fentiman said funding of up to $5,000 was available for each successful recipient.

“We know that from small things, big things grow and a strong small business sector means a growing economy that delivers even more jobs,” Ms Fentiman said.

“The Palaszczuk Government continues to support our small businesses to succeed and reach their goals.”

“The funding can be used for professional advice and support for business planning, marketing strategy development, as well as social media and digital strategies, research, mentoring and coaching.”

In the last round of Small Business Entrepreneur Grants, 237 small businesses were successful in receiving $840,000 to access professional advice and support.

“Hair Aid in South Brisbane provide haircuts to disadvantaged and vulnerable Queenslanders and received $4,450 to assist them to increase sponsorship opportunities with the aim to expand their services from 26 locations to 66 in Queensland.

“It is the critical early stages of developing a business that is so important to success, and these funds can contribute to accessing the support businesses need to start, grow and thrive,” she said.

“I encourage Queensland small businesses who are looking for that extra boost to kickstart their business to apply.”

Round four applications open on 15 November and close at 5pm on 13 December 2018.
