Tinaroo Rural Fire Brigade celebrates 20th anniversary with truck handover

Fire and Emergency Services Minister Craig Crawford has celebrated the Tinaroo Rural Fire Brigade’s (RFB) 20-year anniversary and officially handed over a new $200,000 firefighting truck.   

Mr Crawford said the new Isuzu vehicle could carry more firefighters and more water, which meant officers could respond more effectively to vehicle, grass and bushfire threats.

“The Palaszczuk Government is committed to keeping all Queenslanders safe and this excellent addition to the Tinaroo brigade’s firefighting arsenal means we are doing just that,” Mr Crawford said.

“We can now put more boots on the ground and respond to emergencies with much greater water capacity than ever before.

“The support this brigade provides is highly valued and I am glad we can help it to continue to protect and serve our community when it counts the most.

“I’d also like to congratulate the brigade on its 20^th anniversary – it’s a significant milestone and one that would never have been reached without the support and commitment of all our staff and volunteers.”

The Tinaroo brigade was established in 1998 and covers an area of 18 square kilometres with 51 operational firefighters and six supporting members.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Katarina Carroll also attended the brigade anniversary.

“The Tinaroo brigade opened 20 years ago and has not only worked with landowners to help manage fires but has also admirably supported local fire and rescue stations when responding to a range of incidents,” Ms Carroll said.

“I would like to especially thank the five founding members of the brigade Darryl Dilger, Don Neville, Victor Weare, Christine Green and Les Green – thank you for all that you have done for the Tinaroo community.

 “The community relies on us to be there when they need us most, and having the right equipment is vital to the work you do.”

The new vehicle was provided to the Tinaroo RFB as part of the Rural Fire Service (RFS) Appliance Replacement Program, with ongoing support provided by the RFS Fuel and Maintenance Program.
