Minister for Innovation and Tourism Industry Development and Minister for the Commonwealth Games
The Honourable Kate Jones
Ministerial Champion for International Education Kate Jones has officially appointed two world-class entrepreneurs Study Queensland’s newest Industry Innovators in Residence.
“Beau Leese, co-founder and co-CEO of Intersective, and Nannette Ripmeester, founder and director of Expertise in Labour Mobility in the Netherlands, will help us tailor or offering to ensure we’re giving students the best possible employment opportunities,” she said.
“Research conducted recently by the government shows Queensland’s reputation as a safe and welcoming place for international students is one of our biggest selling points.
“This is a competitive edge – we want to build on that reputation to lure more international students to Queensland.
“That’s why we’re investing more than $25 million to grow this sector through the government’s International Education and Training Strategy.”
Ms Jones said inaugural innovators in residence Gus Balbontin and Will Archer were pivotal in developing Study Queensland’s ‘Start Here, Go Anywhere’ campaign launched in June 2018.
“Gus and Will did a great job helping to strengthen the Study Queensland brand,” she said.
“They’ve now passed on the baton to Beau and Nannette but I know that they’ll continue to be great ambassadors for international education in Queensland.”
