Queensland tourism campaign reaches nearly four million in two days

A tourism campaign launched in the United Kingdom coinciding with the Royals’ visit this week is already paying off for Queenslanders.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk revealed that in two days, the campaign had reached more than 3.9 million people.

“Thanks to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s visit to Queensland, images of our beautiful state are being beamed into millions of homes right across the world,” she said.

“That exposure is priceless and this campaign coinciding with the visit by the Royals is about boosting tourism and continuing to show off the best of K’gari/Fraser Island.

“It’s been a great success so far with the campaign into the UK market reaching a quarter of its target in just two days.”

“Today’s figures prove this campaign has got off to a flying start.”

•           3,900,000 people reached

•           237,812 views of the video

Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones said the four-week digital and social media campaign would be complemented with a promotion through Flight Centre UK.

“We know the Royal visit to Bundaberg earlier this year generated about $3.5 million for the local economy,” she said.

“Our modelling shows the Royals’ latest visit could generate somewhere in the order of $6 million for Queensland. This is a real shot in the arm for the state’s tourism industry.

“We’re working hard to capitalise on the great exposure from Harry and Meghan’s visit.

“An important part of this strategy has revolved around Fraser Island and boosting the profile of the region in the United Kingdom.”
