Australia Day events supported across Queensland

The Palaszczuk Government will be supporting Australia Day events across Queensland next week and is encouraging families to participate.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the state-wide Australia Day Ambassador program included 35 ambassadors attending 35 events across 32 councils between 23 and 27 January.

The participating councils include: Barcaldine Regional Council, Blackall-Tambo Regional Council, Boulia Shire Council, Burdekin Shire Council, Burke Shire Council, Carpentaria Shire Council, Central Highlands Regional Council, Charters Towers Regional Council, Gold Coast City Council, Etheridge Shire Council, Flinders Shire Council, Goondiwindi Regional Council, Hinchinbrook Shire Council, Isaac Regional Council, Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Logan City Council, Longreach Regional Council, McKinlay Shire Council, North Burnett Regional Council, Scenic Rim Regional Council, Somerset Regional Council, Southern Downs Regional Council, Sunshine Coast Council, Toowoomba Regional Council, Torres Shire Council, Western Downs Regional Council and Winton Shire Council.

The Government supports and coordinates a range of other events including the annual Great Australian Bites program.

Under the Great Australian Bites program, food festivals and celebrations will be held at:

  • Fairy Tree Park, Airlie Beach;
  • Dalrymple Equestrian Centre, Flinders Highway, Charters Towers;
  • Cattleman's Bar and Grill, Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame, Longreach; and  
  • Riverside, William and Quay Streets, Rockhampton.  

“As Premier, I look forward attending to Australia Day Flag Raising Ceremony at Jezzine Barracks, Townsville and attend a citizenship ceremony,” she said.
