Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment
The Honourable Curtis Pitt

United Petroleum is dramatically cutting the price of all E10 fuel across Queensland announced Treasurer Curtis Pitt.

United is making its E10 fuel six cents per litre cheaper but only for a limited time.

“United Petroleum already offers discounted regular unleaded fuel price right across Queensland, so this is another welcome business move by this industry disruptor,” Mr Pitt said.

“E10 is a Queensland-made biofuel and now Queensland motorists will get a special Queensland-only discount price.

“The Palaszczuk Government is directly investing in the development of Queensland’s $1 billion sustainable and export-oriented industrial biotechnology and bioproducts sector, creating the high skill jobs of the future.

“And our biofuels mandate, which came into effect in January this year, is playing a key role in Queensland’s move to a clean energy economy by requiring Queensland’s fuel industry to meet targets for the sales of bio-based petrol such as E10 and bio-based diesel.

“We are driving the nation’s biofuels industry, and as we move to a sustainable renewable future, the biofuels mandate will provide certainty to ensure the biofuels industry can invest, innovate and grow.

“So I’m thrilled to make this announcement with an innovative business that’s forcing the fuel industry to stop ripping people off at the bowser.

“United Petroleum shares the Palaszczuk Government’s passion for lowering costs of living and driving a greener, healthier, smarter future for our state.”

United is an independent 100% Australian-owned petrol and convenience company with has a significant retail network and Bio-Refinery plant in Queensland.

United Petroleum CEO Gary Brinkworth said the company’s ongoing investment in the State’s biofuels and bio-manufacturing industry is creating jobs for regional Queenslanders and adding value to the State’s abundant agricultural resources.

“We took the decision that the best way in which we could support the Queensland Government’s recent biofuel mandate was by taking this direct and decisive action and encourage motorists to make the switch,” he said.

“Since the Queensland Government launched their E10OK campaign earlier this year, there has been some lingering apathy amongst consumers about changing their fuel buying patterns.

“We know that fuel ratings (octane, RON etc) don’t mean much to the average consumer and that whilst “Bio” sounds like something positive it hasn’t always been a strong enough motivator in itself.

“We know that once consumers try our E10 they’ll enjoy the extra zip and cleaner fuel system in their cars and we’re sure that drastically reducing the price of our E10 clearly demonstrates that we are playing our part in fuelling growth for regional Queensland and creating a cleaner environment for the next generation.

“We believe that people have been thinking a bit more about E10, and we now want them to try it for themselves”.

United is one of Australia’s fastest growing independent companies, offering high quality fuels and convenience items at competitive prices across its nearly 400-strong retail network.

The new E10 pricing will be rolled out at over 50 sites across Queensland today.
