Interstate waste movement

Premier and Minister for the Arts
The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk
Tonight's ABC TV Four Corners program has raised alarming allegations about the movement of waste from New South Wales into south-east Queensland.
I will discuss the allegations, including the non-enforcement of the "proximity principle", with New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
The proximity principle, under NSW law, makes it an offence "to transport waste generated in NSW by motor vehicle for disposal more than 150 kilometres from the place of generation, unless the waste is transported to one of the two nearest lawful disposal facilities to the place of generation".
I want to work cooperatively with the New South Wales Government.
Our cross border agreement commits us to "consistent action on waste management".
Queensland will not be the dumping ground for New South Wales waste.
