Jeff Horn versus Manny Pacquiao rematch

Statement from Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk:

Major Events Minister Kate Jones and I met with our WBO welterweight world champion Jeff Horn and Duco Events director Dean Lonergan yesterday to discuss Jeff’s rematch with Manny Pacquiao.

It was an informal discussion, but I can confirm my Government is in advanced formal negotiations to secure the rematch.

We are in the fight to secure a second fight for Brisbane.

My Government stands in Jeff’s corner with every other Queenslander.

We are proud of what Jeff has achieved in and outside the boxing ring.

My Government worked with Mr Lonergan to secure the first Battle of Brisbane bout between Jeff and Manny Pacquiao at Suncorp Stadium on 2 July.

More than 51,000 saw the first fight, with an estimated global audience of 500 million and provided a $25 million boost to our economy.
