Premier and Minister for the Arts
The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk

The Palaszczuk Government will govern from the Wide Bay, including Cabinet and town hall meetings, next month.

Member for Maryborough Bruce Saunders and Member for Bundaberg Leanne Donaldson said they had asked the Premier for Wide Bay to host the Government for a week. Governing from Wide Bay will start from 10 September.

"By having the Government in our region for a week, we can highlight the opportunities and needs of our communities," Mr Saunders said.

"The State Budget approved by Parliament last week included an investment of $649 million for infrastructure projects that will support 1800 jobs."

Ms Donaldson said with other Government programs and restoring the frontline services after the LNP cuts, the Government expected the Budget would support 3000 jobs across the region.

"Already the Government's Back to Work program had directly helped more than 1200 people in Wide Bay to get jobs in the last 12 months," she said.

"We are working with local government and through the two rounds of the Government's Work for Queensland program a combined $76 million has been commitment to council, job- generating projects in the Wide Bay-Burnett."

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said her Government had held a Community Cabinet meeting in October 2015 and the Working Queensland Cabinet Committee met in Maryborough ahead of the State Budget last year.

"Governing from the Regions allows my Ministers and I to meet with members of the community and local businesses over the course of the week," she said.

The Premier's Governing from the Regions has been held in Townsville, Rockhampton/Gladstone, Cairns and on the Gold Coast.
