Local residents, businesses encouraged to be part of governing from the Gold Coast

The Palaszczuk Government is encouraging local residents and businesses to seek meetings with Ministers when it governs from the Gold Coast from 31 July to 4 August.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the Governing from the Regions approach ensured the Government continued to work with Queenslanders to address local issues and seize upon local opportunities.

The Palaszczuk Government is governing from Cairns next week (July 10 to 14).

“Rather than our previous two-day Community Cabinet meetings, the Governing from the Regions is for a full-week and provides more opportunities for Ministers and I to meet local stakeholders,” she said.

The Palaszczuk Government held a Community Cabinet meeting on the Gold Coast in May last year.

“We had proposed Governing from the Gold Coast earlier this year, but it was postponed due to Tropical Cyclone Debbie which led to severe flooding on the Gold Coast.”

“We are working for all Queenslanders to create jobs and deliver services.  The Budget is a record commitment to jobs and a record investment in key services, like health and education.”

“For the Gold Coast, the Budget will directly support 3100 jobs with a commitment of $874.9 million for infrastructure on the Gold coast and $1.4 billion for the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service.”
