Premier and Minister for the Arts
The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of the United Kingdom after terrorist attacks in the London Bridge and Borough Market areas of central London.

Also we pray for the families who have lost loved ones and for the people who are now in care at hospitals in London.

I have spoken with Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath, who is in United Kingdom as part of the Election Assessment Mission arranged by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association UK ahead next week’s elections.  She is receiving a briefing later today on developments in London.

Queensland authorities work with other jurisdictions on a full range of security and counter-terrorism measures.

The Government is strengthening our counter-terrorism capacity establishing a world-class use of force, weapons and counter-terrorism facility at Wacol for the Queensland Police. I have already announced the Government will invest $46.7 million over three years for this centre in the next State Budget.
