Back to Work program supporting 4,000 jobs in regional Queensland

More than 4,000 Queenslanders are now back on the job, thanks to the Palaszczuk Government’s $100 million Back to Work regional jobs program.

Employment Minister Grace Grace said the government was already more than half-way to achieving its target of 8,000 new jobs through Back to Work, less than half way into the two year program.

“Back to Work is already supporting 4,017 jobs in regional Queensland, where they’re needed most,” Ms Grace said.

“There are a further 1,146 pending applications being processed.

“Should all these pending applications be successful, it will mean the program has already resulted in 5,163 new jobs in regional Queensland.

“The program has been so successful that we’ve had to devote additional resources to processing the claims that are pouring in.”

Ms Grace said to date, $19.4 million had been paid out to regional Queensland employers under the Back to Work Program.

“A further $38.1 million is earmarked for payment, representing a total funding commitment to date of $57.5 million,” she said.

“I’ve seen first-hand the difference this program is making to the lives of successful jobseekers and businesses throughout regional Queensland.

“I want to encourage eligible employers in regional Queensland who are thinking of hiring to get in touch with our Back to Work teams on 13 QGOV (13 74 68).”
