One of thousands of small business operators who will take part in the 2017 Queensland Small Business Week, Kylie Kluger has big dreams for her small business.

The owner of Klugerhaus Photography, a photography and communications business in Brisbane, Kylie attributes her success to a Home-Based Business Grant, courtesy of the Queensland Government, and word of mouth referrals.

“Queensland Small Business Week (May 15 - 20) is a must-do event, and is a launch-pad for future business growth,” Ms Kluger said.

“You need to know what support and opportunities are out there. We can all help each other.

“Supporting and nurturing Queenslanders is vital. It’s brilliant the Queensland Government is helping the little guy to succeed. Hopefully I can return the favour one day.”

Another Brisbane small business operator taking part in the week is Stacey Head, of She Wear, which manufactures and sells a range of safety and fashion footwear, workwear and personal protective equipment, specifically designed to fit women correctly, comfortably and safely.

“Running a small business can be very isolating. It’s important to have the opportunity to speak with other business leaders and to hear initiatives that will help my small business achieve success, grow and overcome difficulties,” Ms Head said

“I’m excited to take part in 2017 Queensland Small Business Week so I can learn about government initiatives that will help my business grow.

“I’m also eager to connect with like-minded small business operators and network.”

Minister for Small Business Leeanne Enoch said it was small business owners like Kylie and Stacey who made Queensland the nation’s capital for small business success.

“Klugerhaus Photography and She Wear are among more than 414,000 Queensland small businesses injecting $100 billion into the state’s economy,” Ms Enoch said.

“The Palaszczuk Government also actively supports the small business sector through grants and other business support services.

“The $22.7 million Advancing Small Business Queensland Strategy 2016-20 supports small businesses to get a better start, survive the tough first four years, increase their digital capabilities and employ Queenslanders.”

In partnership with Vodafone Australia and Australia Post, 2017 QSBW will provide business owners, managers and small business advocates with the opportunity to network, learn new skills and discover support programs to help their businesses thrive.

More than 5000 people are expected to participate in 2017 QSBW, with key events in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Cairns, Townsville, Bundaberg and Mackay already locked in.
