CCIQ supports 2017 Queensland Small Business Week

Minister for Small Business Leeanne Enoch today (Tuesday) announced Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ) as a key supporter of 2017 Queensland Small Business Week (May 15 - 20).

Ms Enoch said CCIQ has been a passionate and vocal advocate for Queensland small business for more than 150 years and their partnership with Queensland Small Business Week was a natural extension of this support.  

“2017 Queensland Small Business Week (2017 QSBW) is about knowledge sharing, building partnerships and encouraging collaboration,” Ms Enoch said.

“CCIQ offers their members access to networking events, training programs and local chamber get-togethers that encourage these business concepts all year round.

“We are delighted to partner with CCIQ during 2017 Queensland Small Business Week and appreciate the important role they play in helping small businesses thrive throughout the state.”

CCIQ Chief Executive Officer Stephen Tait said small businesses in Queensland are the economy’s heavy lifters.

“More than $100 billion is injected into the Queensland economy each year by more than 414,000 small businesses,” Mr Tait said.

“The importance of small business in Queensland is immense and it’s absolutely vital they are adequately supported.

“2017 Queensland Small Business Week gives these businesses the opportunity to come together and network, form partnerships and learn.

“CCIQ believes Queensland is the best place to do business and 2017 Queensland Small Business Week will showcase that.”

Ms Enoch echoed Mr Tait’s sentiments regarding the importance of the small business sector in Queensland.

“The Palaszczuk Government understands how important small businesses in Queensland are to the economy and we are excited about the opportunities and innovation 2017 Small Business Week could encourage,” Ms Enoch said.

More than 5000 people are expected to participate in more than a hundred 2017 QSBW events.

CCIQ are a key supporter for the workshop series held throughout QSBW, with workshops to take place on Stradbroke Island (15 May), Hervey Bay (16 May), Caloundra (16 May), Burdekin (17 May), Ipswich (17 May), Roma (18 May), Emerald (18 May), and Cairns (19 May).

A statewide webinar series will also be held throughout QSBW.
