Kingaroy businesses to benefit from workshop

Kingaroy small businesses can get practical advice from the experts on how to grow their business and boost productivity at a free one-day workshop this Thursday (27 April).

Minister for Small Business Leeanne Enoch said the Small Business in a Day workshop was targeted at local small business owners.

“We are keen to help small businesses right across the state and this all-day workshop is aimed at giving useful and practical information and tips for small business owners,” Ms Enoch said.

“The workshop will provide knowledge, support and practical tools to help small business owners manage their business, boost productivity and stay competitive.”

Guest speakers include Kristy Frahm, Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation; Josh Gadischke, Proteco, who will discuss commercialisation and business sustainability; and Tina Torrens of Torkit, to discuss strategy and sustainable growth.

In addition, James Eckart from Kingaroy’s Cyonic IT Professionals will draw on his experience to talk about the local IT industry, and Derek Charlwood from South Burnett Garage Doors, will share his experience as a small business owner and discuss the challenges for growing small businesses.

Participants can also meet a business mentor during the event to discuss new business ideas or current challenges within their business, and to understand how mentoring can help them start or grow their business.

There will also be an expo component of the workshop to provide information beneficial to small businesses, with exhibitors includding TAFE; Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation; Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; Department of State Development; AusIndustry; and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.

“Under our Advancing Small Business Queensland Strategy 2016-20, we have activated a series of workshops to support Queensland small business,” Ms Enoch said.

“Small Business in a Day is the most comprehensive of these and I encourage businesses to register.”

The workshop (8.30am – 5pm) will be at the Town Hall Reception Room at Lot 28 Glendon Street, Kingaroy 4610. It is a free event and interested attendees can register at business.qld.gov.au/events. Registrations close 12 noon, Wednesday 26 April.
