Additional assistance for Queensland councils affected by Tropical Cyclone Debbie
Minister for Justice Michael Keenan and Queensland Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services Mark Ryan today announced additional disaster assistance for communities affected by Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
The assistance is being provided through the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements.
Minister Keenan said today’s announcement will extend assistance under the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements to the local government area of Brisbane.
“This brings the total number of Queensland local government areas receiving assistance under these arrangements to thirty–five (35),” Mr Keenan said.
Minister Ryan said joint Commonwealth-State funding to assist states and local councils to undertake certain counter disaster operations and clean-up activities has also been extended to the local government areas of Brisbane and the Fraser Coast.
“In addition, concessional interest rate loans for primary producers have today been extended to the local government area of Woorabinda,” Mr Ryan said.
Information on disaster assistance available for this natural disaster can be found on the Australian Government’s Disaster Assist website at https://www.disasterassist.gov.au/ and the Queensland Government’s Disaster management website at https://www.disaster.qld.gov.au/.
