The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has welcomed Suncorp’s donation of $150,000 to the Australian Red Cross’ Disaster Relief and Recovery effort to help cyclone and flood-affected residents in Queensland and New South Wales.

The Premier said she applauded the announcement by Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Michael Cameron.

“My Government made a $1 million contribution to four charities, including Red Cross, that are working on the ground to support Queenslanders severely impacted by Debbie and flooding that followed,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“I welcome the donations from companies like Suncorp to these charities.”

The Premier said welcomed Suncorp’s formation of Customer Response Teams at Proserpine, Airlie Beach, Bowen and Rockhampton.

The Premier encouraged anyone wanting to help their fellow Queenslanders to make a donation directly with a respected charity:

“These charities are trained to respond to the needs of communities hit by natural disasters and can provide food, equipment, shelter, and other support,” she said.

Goods and services can also be donated to GIVIT through their website www.givit.org.au.
