The Palaszczuk Government is helping Queensland small businesses check their digital readiness with the launch today of an online Digital Scorecard.

Speaking at the Logan Digital Expo today, Minister for Innovation, Science and the Digital Economy and Minister for Small Business Leeanne Enoch said the Digital Scorecard would help businesses identify ways to improve their digital capability and be more competitive in a global digital economy.

“The Digital Scorecard is a great way for business people in Queensland to understand how they can improve their competitiveness in the digital economy,” Ms Enoch said.

“Many of our state's 414,000 small businesses are already digitally savvy, but there is room for improvement and it's always good to know where you sit in relation to your peers and competitors – that's where the Digital Scorecard fits in.

"Small to medium enterprises and not-for-profits can use the scorecard to find out just how digitally aware and capable they are compared with others in the industry.”

The Digital Scorecard was developed by the Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation in collaboration with Regional Development Australia (RDA) Sunshine Coast.

RDA Sunshine Coast Chief Executive Officer Darrell Edwards describes the scorecard as a “great enabler for regional business” in Queensland.

“It will help owners take stock of their technology adoption and application, and help them improve their productivity and profitability through technology,” he said.

“The Digital Scorecard is an end to end service, helping regional businesses move into the digital age with confidence. I'm excited about the opportunities this will open up for regional businesses to transform and evolve, and become nationally and globally competitive.”

Businesses who complete a digital assessment will be invited to targeted workshops, to be held in coming months, to improve their digital readiness in areas including website development, social media, and the use of mobile and other new technologies.

Businesses can access the Digital Scorecard on the Business Queensland website at www.business.qld.gov.au/digitalscorecard.
