Premier and Minister for the Arts
The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has decided to postpone the Government’s planned week governing from the Gold Coast so she and her Ministers could focus on the response and recovery from Severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie.

“My Government is committed to the Gold Coast and I wanted my Ministers to be on the Gold Coast to coincide with 12 months’ to go before the start of the 2018 Commonwealth Games,” the Premier said.

“Since the weekend, my Ministers have been focussed on Debbie and preparations for the Cyclone. Now Debbie has crossed the coast, we need to focus restoring services, repairing the damage and planning for recovery.”

“I reaffirm my commitment to govern from the Gold Coast and to meet with the many community members who had already requested to see Ministers on the Gold Coast.”

“I will discuss with Mayor Tom Tate about arranging a time for my Cabinet to return to the Gold Coast for the week.”

The Palaszczuk Government held a Community Cabinet meeting on the Gold Coast in May last year.
