Taskforce Maxima covert OMCG operation results in 28 arrests

Detectives from Taskforce Maxima have closed the nine-month Operation Oscar Autocross which targeted a ring of outlaw motor cycle gang members and associates allegedly bringing highly dangerous drugs into Queensland.

“I want to congratulate these hardworking and highly skilled police officers for their ongoing pursuit of these thugs and criminals,” said Police Minister Mark Ryan.

“Let me be very clear, the Palaszczuk Government will not tolerate the destructive and reprehensible crimes being committed by outlaw motor cycle gangs or any other organised criminal group.

“We will not give up until Queensland is rid of these blights on our society.

“The Palaszczuk Government has provided new funding, new resources and tough new laws which are clearly working.

“There are now 24 additional police officers on the Gold Coast and we have increased funding by almost $40 million to target Serious and Organised Crime.

“The highly dedicated Taskforce Maxima has been actively enforcing our tough new laws, and will continue to do so now the consorting component has been added to their arsenal.”

As at 21 March, three verified consorting warning notices were issued to individuals in the Gold Coast police district, with a total of 42 across Queensland.

Police across the state continue to actively enforce the new offence of wearing or carrying a prohibited item in a public place.

As at 20 March, nine people have been charged with a total of nine offences across Queensland, including two individuals charged with two offences within the Gold Coast police district.
