Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for Training and Skills
The Honourable Yvette D'Ath

Time is running out to nominate for the 2017 Queensland Training Awards, with the closing date of March 31 fast approaching.

Training and Skills Minister Yvette D’Ath urged Queenslanders to enter for a chance to be recognised for their contribution to the state's vocational education and training sector.

“Don’t miss the chance to shine and be rewarded for your training success,” Mrs D’Ath said.

“The Queensland Training Awards are the biggest and longest running training sector awards in the state.

“They provide individuals and organisations with a unique opportunity to showcase their achievements, best practice and innovation in training.

”The awards give Queenslanders the opportunity to show how much quality training is valued, what it means to people and how it touches so many lives,” Mrs D’Ath said.

The 56th annual awards’ nominations will close on 31 March.

Categories are available for apprentices, trainees, vocational students, teachers, trainers, employers, training providers and community-based organisations.

Eleven categories are initially contested across seven regional areas – Tropical North Queensland, North Queensland, Central Queensland, South East Queensland, Metropolitan, North Coast, and Darling Downs South West.

Regional winners and the finalists from the three direct-entry state categories will then compete for top honours at the Queensland Training Awards State Gala Dinner in Brisbane on September 1.

State winners of aligned categories have the opportunity to contest the national awards at the Australian Training Awards in November.
