A Far North Queensland housing maintenance company has secured a new Queensland Government contract to upgrade public housing on Mornington Island.

Minister for Housing and Public Works Mick de Brenni said that Aaron Grant Building was awarded the contract to undertake a range of works including carpentry, painting, fencing, and replacement of windows and screens.

“We expect this contract will support up to eight workers, and I’d encourage the builder to hire locals to do the work where possible,” Mr de Brenni said.

Ministerial Champion for Mornington Island Jennifer Howard welcomed the upgrades.

“Mornington Island is a wonderful place, and the Palaszczuk Government is committed to supporting the community’s vision of a healthy and sustainable community.

“As the Ministerial Champion for Mornington Island, I know projects like this can make a big difference in remote communities.”
