The Palaszczuk Government Government today (Saturday) announced the second phase of its plan to help local small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs) improve their digital capability and competitiveness in the global digital economy.

Minister for Innovation, Science and the Digital Economy and Minister for Small Business Leeanne Enoch said the free Digital Business Workshops will be available to businesses who complete the Digital Scorecard online assessment through the government’s Business Queensland website.

Ms Enoch said the workshops – the first to be held on the Gold Coast on Tuesday (October 31) – are aimed at improving digital readiness in areas including website development, social media use, and the use of mobile and software tools.

In coming weeks, more workshops will also be held in Rockhampton, Mackay, Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast, Logan, Ipswich and Brisbane.

“These Digital Business Workshops are a great way for business people in south-east and central Queensland to improve their competitiveness in the digital economy,” Ms Enoch said.

“They are an empowering and practical next step for businesses to better enhance their digital capability.

“Many of our state’s 414,000 small businesses are already digitally savvy, and through the Palaszczuk Government’s Small Business Digital Grant program, more than $2 million has been allocated to 403 Queensland small businesses to help them become digitally savvy and expand their online presence.

“There is always room for improvement, and these workshops are designed to ensure your business makes an impact,” Ms Enoch said.

The Digital Business Workshops are designed for SMEs and not-for-profit organisations to identify ways of improving their digital capability and become more competitive in today's digital marketplace.

The workshops aim to assist businesses to develop a prioritised action plan to guide digital activities that align with business goals. They will also share knowledge about opportunities to grow business to make it more sustainable, improving operational efficiency, vision and planning, sales and marketing and digital capabilities
