It’s a bonanza for Sunshine Coast boaties this week, with two announcements courtesy of the Palaszczuk Government’s $30 million Marine Infrastructure Fund.

Main Roads and Ports Minister Mark Bailey said boaties can now enjoy the upgraded recreational boat ramp on the south bank of Currimundi Lake, with the Lara Street ramp reopening to the public.

“As planned, the works were completed within a two week period so the ramp could re-open for local boaties as soon as possible,” Mr Bailey said.

“Works involved building the lower section of the existing boat ramp with an extension of around seven metres.”

Mr Bailey said the boat ramp extension will allow for greater use of the facility, increasing the depth of the ramp and the tidal window for launching.

“We thank Sunny Coast boaties for their patience during these works,” he said.

“Works have also started on a new floating walkway for the Fishermans Road boat ramp in Maroochydore.

“Partial closures are occurring with the contractor endeavouring to have one-lane open for use at all times.

“Completion of these works are on track for December, weather permitting.”

Funding of $470,000 has been provided for these projects from the Queensland Government’s Marine Infrastructure Fund.
