Queensland business confidence tops the nation again

Australia’s most confident businesses are in Queensland, according to the latest National Australia Bank monthly business survey. 

Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment, Curtis Pitt, said the NAB survey measured business expectations for the coming month, with the results demonstrating that the Palaszczuk Government’s economic plan was delivering for Queensland. 

“Our economic plan has put Queensland’s economy back into positive territory, with 115,400 jobs created since the January 2015 state election,” Mr Pitt said. 

“Queensland’s trend business confidence continues to rise – up 1 point in September to +12 which was the highest in Australia. 

“It means business confidence in Queensland according to the NAB survey has been the highest, or second highest, for 31 of the past 33 months.” 

Mr Pitt said the survey also showed business conditions in Queensland were ranked at +12 — the best they had been in five years. 

“This shows the strength of our economy, the confidence within our state’s business sector, and the way we are building on those essential ingredients through our economic plan. 

“Confidence is king when it comes to generating economic growth and jobs. 

“As a government we are doing what we can to support businesses sector, by encouraging growth and job creation. 

“Having a vibrant, diverse and strong private sector is critical to the continued success of Queensland’s strong and growing economy,” Mr Pitt said.
