The opportunity for Queenslanders to comment on the new vision for the Daisy Hill Koala Bushland is closing soon with submissions due by 31 January.

National Parks Minister Dr Steven Miles said the draft Daisy Hill Directions Paper is asking for public feedback, with the aim of establishing a shared vision and priorities for the management of the Daisy Hill Koala Bushland.

“Focus areas include enhanced coordinated management, improved conservation values, recreation and tourism,” Dr Miles said.

“We hope to achieve common conservation priorities for the koala bushland area,” he said.

The draft Daisy Hill Directions Paper has been developed following an extensive review of the site, research and stakeholder engagement.

Member for Springwood Mick de Brenni said the Directions Paper will provide a five-year framework to guide management across the Koala Bushland once it is finalised.

“For decades, Daisy Hill has been a much loved conservation and recreation destination in south-east Queensland,” he said.

“With the right planning, Daisy Hill Koala Centre could be the focus for koala conservation and education in South East Queensland.

“Within the Koala Bushland, the Koala Centre provides valuable insight and education to the local community and visitors on the conservation of these unique animals and their habitat.”

To have your say on the draft, visit https://www.npsr.qld.gov.au/parks/daisy-hill/ and provide feedback before the end of this month.
