Minister for State Development and Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Dr Anthony Lynham today welcomed the appointment of Ian Macfarlane as the new chief executive of the Queensland Resources Council

Speaking from the United States where he is currently on a trade and investment mission and attending a major international mining expo, Dr Lynham said the new CEO would bring a wealth of experience to QRC.

“I welcome the appointment of Ian MacFarlane as Chief Executive of the Queensland Resources Council, and congratulate him on his new role,” Dr Lynham Said.

“Ian has long been a champion for the resources sector and understands the important role the industry plays in the Queensland economy.

“As the Palaszczuk Government works to diversify our economy and increase our uptake of renewables, the resources industry will continue to play an important role in this transition.

“Ian will bring a wealth of knowledge to the QRC and as a former federal minister for resources brings with him a great depth of experience in natural resources and the mining sector.

“I look forward to working with him in his new role.”
