North Queensland Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) members, volunteers and programs have been recognised at this year’s Queensland Police Citizens Welfare Association Awards in Townsville last night.
Minister Assisting the Premier on North Queensland and Member for Mundingburra Coralee O’Rourke congratulated the North Queensland winners for their achievements over the past 12 months, on behalf of Acting Police Minister Dr Anthony Lynham.
“PCYC works incredibly hard in our communities to engage young people through recreational, sporting, cultural and welfare programs, and I’m pleased this dedication has been recognised,” Mrs O’Rourke said.
“Engaging young people in the community isn’t always easy, but by making them feel valued and included is a great first step, which is exactly what PCYC is doing.
“The Queensland Police Citizens Welfare Association Awards highlights this hard work and dedication, and each nominee should feel proud of their commitment to building a stronger community.”
Superintendent District Officer Glen Kachel said the programs had enhanced communities through crime prevention and played a vital role in youth development.
“These awards are reflective of the many diverse roles PCYC volunteers and members deliver and everyone involved should be proud of their dedicated efforts,” Superintendent Kachel said.
“Everyone who received a nomination or award has demonstrated their selfless commitment to helping our communities.
“Each and every one of you share enthusiasm and bring positive attitudes to our PCYC clubs throughout Northern Queensland.”
These awards have been presented for over 10 years and recognise and reward PCYC supporters for their excellence, devotion and loyalty to our community.
