Work to extend the Nicklin Way right-turn lane into Kawana Island Boulevard (also known as Aquatic Drive), Warana, is due to start this Sunday (31 July).

Minister for Main Roads Mark Bailey said the work would improve safety and traffic flow at this location by extending the southbound right-turn lane by about 50 metres.

“Due to high traffic volumes and the need to keep all lanes open along Nicklin Way during the day, work will mostly be carried out at night – between 7pm and 5am, Sunday to Thursday. Occasional day work may also be required.

“It’s expected to take about four weeks to complete, weather permitting.”

For the safety of road workers and motorists, changed traffic conditions, including traffic control, lane closures and speed reductions, will apply.

Minister Bailey said safety around roadworks was everyone’s responsibility.

“Please slow down, follow signs and obey traffic controllers’ instructions,” he said.
