Minister for State Development and Minister for Natural Resources and Mines
The Honourable Dr Anthony Lynham

Acting Police Minister Dr Anthony Lynham has welcomed $25.4 million in Federal Government funding to enhance the Palaszczuk Government’s plan to fight organised crime.

“This money builds upon the $39.1 million over four years to target serious and organised crime and implement the Government’s response to the Queensland Organised Crime Commission of Inquiry report,” Dr Lynham said.

“This is on top of the Palaszczuk Government’s $20 million funding over four years to help Queensland Police take down organised crime and combat alcohol-fuelled violence and ice.

“Keeping Queenslanders safe should be a priority for all levels of government and I welcome any funding that will make this happen.

“It is good that the Federal Government is getting behind our stance to be tough on crime.”

Between 1 January 2015 and 23 May 2016, the QPS Organised Crime Investigation Unit arrested 45 people on 239 charges in connection with serious and organised crime.
