Plumbing company General Manager Jody Monaghan has been recognised for excellence in the field, snaring an award at this year’s Master Plumbers Association of Queensland (MPAQ) industry Awards Night.

Minister for Housing and Public Works Mick de Brenni congratulated Ms Monaghan on winning the Andrea Vogler Women in Business Award.

“For 13 years Jody has been hard at work at Dalby-based Stimson Plumbing, her hands-on approach really bringing the business into the 21st century,” Mr de Brenni said.

“I’ve been told that Jody’s been instrumental in driving greater learning and upskilling for plumbers at the company, as she believes working in a rural area means staff need much wider knowledge to tackle all sorts of potential plumbing issues.

“She’s made the company a great place to work for apprentices too, encouraging them to ask more questions and make the most of their time with their experienced mentors.”

Mr de Brenni said that it was fantastic to see women like Jody recognised at the Awards.

“For too long the leadership of women like Jody has been hidden in the trades sector.

“The depth of women’s leadership in the plumbing sector is now becoming clear with the Services Trades Council, the new plumbing regulatory body, now chaired by a women and having a membership that is fifty percent women.”

“This award is a clear sign to the rest of the state that excellence doesn’t end at the Great Dividing Range,” Mr de Brenni said.
