Jobs, a key Central Queensland regional tourism asset, community infrastructure and family fun are being delivered thanks to the Palaszczuk Government co-funded inventive Yeppoon foreshore revitalisation project.

Minister for State Development and Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Dr Anthony Lynham today inspected the $45 million project ---- co-funded by state, local and federal governments - with the Member for Keppel Brittany Lauga and Livingstone Shire Council Mayor Bill Ludwig.

Dr Lynham said the enhanced foreshore was one of the best in Queensland and was already a popular seaside drawcard and community asset for the region and beyond.

He congratulated Ms Lauga, Member for Rockhampton Bill Byrne and Councillor Ludwig on bringing together the ambitious multi-stage joint project that is estimated to create about 680 long-term tourism and service industry jobs on the Capricorn Coast alone.

“The Palaszczuk Government is providing a total of $29 million towards this job-generating project, much of it as a response to the destruction of Tropical Cyclone Marcia,” Dr Lynham said.

Mrs Lauga said she was “so proud” the Palaszczuk Government had contributed $25 million to the Yeppoon foreshore project in the State Budget which will be a major catalyst towards the Capricorn Coast realising its full potential as a premier tourist destination.

“When completed, the transformed foreshore will generate jobs, drive economic growth and attract major private sector investment to our region.”

She said the 2016-17 Queensland Budget included the funds for the construction and completion of the project.

“I can't wait to see shovel hit the ground and the jobs flowing.”

The Palaszczuk Government Budget is further boosting regional Queensland economies with an extra $175 million for its regional infrastructure program, Building Our Regions, in last week’s State Budget.

“That’s more funds, over more time, to deliver infrastructure and jobs that regional communities like Rockhampton and Yeppoon need,” Dr Lynham said.
