Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries Leanne Donaldson today announced the appointment of the first female Chair of the Board of Directors of Safe Food Queensland, Kathryn Adams.

“Safe Food Queensland is the statutory food safety agency and has operated since 2000,” the Minister said.

“Kathryn has years of valuable experience on the board and is to be supported by Elizabeth Homer and returning director Peter White.

“I have every confidence in Kathryn as Chair and the other Directors in terms of the skills they bring to the table.

“These include extensive expertise in the fields food safety, law, public administration, international trade and marketing and finance and I am looking forwarding to working with the board over their three year term of appointment.”

The agency regulates the primary production and processing of meat, eggs, dairy and seafood in Queensland to ensure the state’s food production systems meet national safety standards and ensure consumer confidence in the sector.
