Search is on for Queensland’s inspiring environmental achievers

Queensland’s environment and sustainability champions still have time to meet the 15 July deadline to nominate for the 2016 Premier’s Sustainability Awards.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the awards, now in their seventh year, recognised excellence in sustainability, innovation and eco-efficiency.

“These awards celebrate the achievements of those individuals and business, community and school groups that are leading the way in environmental best practice,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“Finalists and winners will be recognised for their efforts in delivering innovative programs, products and services that help protect our environment and deliver better outcomes for Queenslanders.”

Nominations are encouraged from Queensland businesses, individuals, rural landholders, community, schools, not-for-profit organisations and local government.

“All Queenslanders have an important role to play in helping to mitigate the effects of climate change,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“By embracing innovation and a more sustainable approach in the way we do business and how we live our everyday lives we can all help protect Queensland’s unique environment.”
