Mr Asset Sales back with vengeance

The Honourable Curtis Pitt

Less than three weeks after ousting Lawrence Springborg to become LNP Leader, Tim Nicholls has contradicted himself on whether or not he wants to sell off Queensland’s assets.

“Prior to the leadership spill Mr Nicholls told the media that asset sales wouldn’t be back on the agenda if he became leader but now we’ve seen him do just that,” Mr Pitt said.

“If his own colleagues can’t trust him how can Queenslanders?

“On May 6 Mr Nicholls told media: ‘The people of Queensland have spoken, we accept that resolution’.

“Until today when he told journalists: ‘We’ll be making our position known in due course’.

“He’s leaving the door open because all he has ever wanted to do is sell-off Queenslanders’ assets to the highest bidder.

“Mr Nicholls may have deceived his Parliamentary colleagues but he’d be even more arrogant than Campbell Newman himself if he believes he can deceive Queenslanders.

“Mr Nicholls secured his party’s leadership with just three slim votes – I bet those three people are doubting their decision right now.

“Would Tim Mander’s backers have voted against Lawrence Springborg if they’d known the turncoat politics Tim Nicholls was about to play?

“The time for Tim Nicholls to come clean with Queenslanders is now, not 'in due course'.”
