The Honourable Stirling Hinchliffe

The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) Coordination Commission today delivered a strong endorsement of Queensland’s planning and preparation for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The regular review, delivered as part of the fifth Coordination Commission (CoCom) meeting on the Gold Coast, reports Queensland is on track to deliver a stand-out Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018).

Commonwealth Games Minister Stirling Hinchliffe welcomed the positive review from CGF.

"It’s 684 days to go and this report card from the CGF, along with the decisions from the Palaszczuk Government this week, show that we are 'Games-ready’," Mr Hinchliffe said.

"The report is a vote of confidence in the planning underway and it is clear CoCom members were impressed with the progress we have achieved just six months since their last visit across a broad spectrum of Games preparations.

"The CGF acknowledged a collaborative approach would be a key success factor for the Games and the Queensland Government will continue to work closely with all Games partners to maintain the momentum and ensure we will deliver the best Commonwealth Games ever."
