Countdown on to Brisbane Racing Carnival

The countdown is on to the Brisbane Racing Carnival, with first class hospitality, entertainment and heart-stopping action just over 10 weeks away.

Racing Minister Grace Grace this evening attended a Carnival preview at Doomben, along with some of Queensland’s leading racing identities.

“The Brisbane Racing Carnival will be bigger and better than ever in 2016, with one of the highlights being a return to racing at Eagle Farm,” she said.

“Eagle Farm is on track to re-open on May 11 since being taken offline in August 2014 for a major refurbishment.

“The refurbishment will deliver a track upgrade, improved public amenities and a giant in-field 44-metre long display screen.

“It’s welcome news for punters who are set to renew their love affair with Queensland’s premier racecourse.”

Ms Grace said the Brisbane Racing Carnival would feature seven Group 1 races, headed by the time-honoured Stradbroke Handicap.

“The Brisbane Racing Carnival regularly attracts world class gallopers and some of the biggest names in Australian racing, and this year will be no different,” she said.

“It’s also one of Queensland’s biggest social occasions, attracting thousands of local, interstate and international visitors.

“This year’s carnival is set to get hearts racing through a great mix of thoroughbreds, food, fashion and entertainment.”

The Brisbane Racing Carnival runs from 14 May – 11 June.
