The Palaszczuk Government today appointed experienced lawyer Peter Carne as Queensland’s Public Trustee.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Yvette D’Ath said she welcomed Mr Carne to the role.

She said Mr Carne previously served as Queensland’s Public Trustee from March 23, 2009 until March 22, 2014.

“Mr Carne brings to the role a wealth of experience, not only because he previously served Queenslanders in the role of Public Trustee, but as a solicitor of more than 30 years standing,” Mrs D’Ath said.

“He was the President and later Chief Executive Officer of the Queensland Law Society and a managing partner of Carne Reidy Herd.

“Mr Carne is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Institute of Management.

“I know he has the acumen to perform the role of Queensland’s Public Trustee with diligence and the respect of his peers to provide this institution with strong leadership into the future.

“I wish him well and congratulate Mr Carne on this significant appointment.”

Mrs D’Ath thanked Mark Crofton for his dedicated service to Queenslanders as acting Public Trustee over the past two years.
