Nominations open tor 2016 Queensland Multicultural Awards

Nominations are now open for the 2016 Queensland Multicultural Awards.

Multicultural Affairs Minister Grace Grace said the Statewide awards recognise outstanding contributions from Queensland’s top multicultural achievers.

“The Queensland Multicultural Awards acknowledge the outstanding work of Queenslanders who support and promote the benefits of a multicultural society,” she said.

"They recognise community volunteers, groups, businesses, government agencies and media whose work in the multicultural sector has helped all Queenslanders to participate in our economy and community.

"This year there will be seven categories and a special Minister's Multicultural Award which will recognise an outstanding nominee.

“If you work or volunteer in the multicultural sector or promote the benefits of a multicultural Queensland, you may be able to nominate.

“I encourage anyone who has made a positive difference to Queensland multiculturalism to nominate now.”

The Queensland Multicultural Awards categories are:

• Services and Communities Award – individual
• Services and Communities Award - organisation
• Business Excellence Award
• Employment, Education and Training lnnovation Award – non government organisations/private enterprise
• Employment, Education and Training lnnovation Award – public sector
• Outstanding Volunteer Award, and
• Communications and Media Achievement Award.

Nominations close at 5pm on Tuesday 3 May 2016. Winners will be announced at the Queensland Multicultural Awards Luncheon during Queensland Multicultural Month in August.
