Queensland students take stand against violence

Queensland school students will stand together against bullying and violence on Friday 18 March.

Education Minister Kate Jones said this year’s National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence was an opportunity for students to take an active stand against violence in all forms.

“So far, more than 530 Queensland schools with almost 300,000 students have signed up to take a stand against bullying and violence in their school communities to mark the National Day of Action,” Ms Jones said.

“Bullying and violence is never ok.

“We are committed to eliminating violence and bullying in our community and helping provide a safe learning environment for all students and their teachers in our schools.

“Schools will hold activities on the National Day of Action to strengthen the message that bullying and violence is never acceptable in or outside the classroom.”

Ms Jones said bullying was not tolerated in Queensland state schools.

“The national day provides everybody with an opportunity to ‘Take a Stand Together’ against bullying and violence,” she said.

“It builds on the efforts of all our schools to set high expectations of student behaviour and encourage safe and supportive learning environments so students can reach their full potential.”
